Coronado Thunderbirds is a club for persons 50 years or older who have retired from Sandia National Laboratories, Los Alamos National Labs, DOE/NNSA, other federal agencies, or the military. Spouses and surviving spouses are welcome to join. The Thunderbirds is a social club offering monthly programs plus activities such as brunch with dancing and travel. We are a remnant derived from the Coronado Club that was supported by Sandia National Laboratories.  Coronado Thunderbirds monthly meetings are currently being via Zoom due to COVID-19 safety protocols. The Business Meeting begins 11:00 am, and the Program follows directly after the Business Meeting.

Past speakers have included two astronauts, the NM Atty. General, the Bernalillo County Probate Court Judge, the Director of the Lodestar Astronomy Center, an expert on Identity Theft, a winemaker, a florist, dancing groups, and others. We have had an old-fashioned sing-along (with piano accompaniment and words projected on a screen), a former guest on the Lawrence Welk show who sang and played his guitar for an hour, and a program by the Southwest Edition of the Sweet Adelines.

We have a bimonthly newsletter sent to all members (by snail mail or email) and a calling committee whose goal is to keep the Thunderbird members informed. We send out UpDates as needed to keep members up-to-date on activities that occur between the times that the Newsletter is distributed. We also have this Web site to keep our members “in the loop.”

Come join the fun  😉
