What we’re about

Coronado Thunderbirds is a social club for persons 50 years or older who have retired from Sandia National Laboratories, Los Alamos National Labs, DOE/NNSA, other federal agencies, or the military.

Spouses and surviving spouses* are welcome to join.

We are an enthusiastic, lighthearted group that have dedicated a part or all of our working lives in the interest of our great Nation. Now, in retirement, we wish to maintain ties with those people we worked alongside and to share and enjoy leisure activities.

Talking with prospective members
Finding out about jewelry making
Socializing over a meal

We are privileged to have access to Kirtland Air Force Base facilities, such as the Mountain View Club and it’s many activities, and many Kirtland Force Support facilities. These include the fitness centers, the golf course, the auto hobby shop, bowling, RV storage, etc. – Kirtland activities access.

Touring the cask room
Learning to square dance
Hearing about the BioPark

We meet monthly to socialize over a meal and to be informed or entertained by a variety of speakers or performances. At times, we might enjoy a follow on activity associated with the program topic of that month when we get together for Club member tours.

*Military surviving spouses and disabled veterans do not pay MVC dues, with proof.
